In May 2017 the apprenticeship levy commenced for all employers with a pay roll of more than £3m.
This means employers are now contributing to the cost of apprenticeship training in England whether you employ an apprentice or not. If you are paying the levy, then you have the ability to design & control your workforce development through an apprenticeship programme.
So far only 16% of levy employers have engaged with and recruited apprentices - Many employers do not have the time or resource to plan, manage and monitor an apprenticeship programme and do not understand the different apprenticeship pathways available to them.
